Marguerite Kirkman Murray Baker, 87, died Saturday,
February 9, 2013 at Summer Breeze on Wilmington Island. She was born in High Point, North Carolina, daughter of Forrest H. and Marguerite Kirkman Murray. Mrs. Baker received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina and began a career as secretary to the owner of Beason Hardware in High Point. In 1949, she met and soon married Henry M. Baker making their home in High Point. They were married for 63 years. Due to Mr. Baker's employment they later located to Madison, NJ where they lived for many years and later retired to Savannah where she was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church on the Isle of Hope. While in New Jersey, Mrs. Baker was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

Surviving are her husband, Henry M. Baker of Savannah; two sons and daughters-in-law, F. West and Joyce Baker of Savannah; James E. and R.J. Baker of Brentwood, TN; three sisters, Betty Hunt Grooms of High Point, NC; Carolyn Moore of Washington, DC; Pat Willard of High Point, NC; three grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Baker, Lauren K. Baker, Jennifer P. Baker; sister-in-law, Virginia Louise Heck of Baltimore, MD; nephews, Mark and Steve Heck and other nieces and nephews.

Memorial Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

The funeral service will be private.
